The Sieltec Marine Lithium battery Monitor in conjunction with VoltGo marine Lithium Batteries provides peace of mind that your Lithium Battery installation can meet Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 3004.
Lithium battery Installations in Austrlia and New Zealand on board boats should meet AS/NZS3004. The standard calls for an audio and visual alarm near the helm to provide an early alert to a BMS disconnection event.
Lithium batteries are fitted with a Battery Management System (BMS) to protect the Lithlium cells from conditions that exceed the normal range of those cells. If the BMS detects that parameters are outside the normal range the BMS can disconnect the battery from the electrical system to protect it from damage.
The standard AS/NZS3004 calls for an early warning of that disconnection event.
The Sieltec VG-1 interrogates VoltGo lithium batteries in a battery bank and provides an early warning if parameters are outside normal limits. The "Alert" condition comes from the batttery and when this is detected the systems alarms and draws attention to the state of the battery for the owner or crew to consider. This happens well before a disconnection event when the battery goes into "Protection Mode".
The Sieltec VG-1 is a set and forget device used to constantly monitor the state of VoltGo 12, 24 and 48 volt lithium batteries.
It comes with one or two remote panels for dual helm vessels and autoconfigures when connected to a VoltGo battery bank. It scans at all times and alerts the vessel operator if battery status requires consideration.
It is usually installed near the battery bank and the remote panel is usually installed near the helm so an alert state can attract the attention of the skipper.
The device can operate from 10.5-70 volts suppply and draws very little current.
A typical remote solution used to effectively remotely monitor the boat battery bank can use a Victron CerboGX device. If the relay output of the VG-1 is directly connected to a digital input of the CerboGX, the power of the Victron VRM can be used to monitor the "Alert" register of the batteries.
